Apple offers to settle Proview iPad trademark dispute, ‘Big Gap’ remains in reaching agreement.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has offered to settle with Chinese company Proview after a lLong, ongoing battle over the iPad trademark in China. While the amount of compensation offered has not been disclosed, Proview's lawyers have not yet agreed to the deal and claim a "big gap' remains in reaching a settlement.

Recently there was speculation that the trademark battle might have lead to Apple holding off from launching the new iPad in the country. The case and negotiation process will continue at the Higher People’s Court of Guangdong, as separate complaints filed by Proview in February will seek compensation for alleged infringement of IP laws in the country.

In an interview with Xinhua on Sunday, Proview's lawyer Xie Xianghui was positive negotiations were progressing:

"We feel that the attitude of Apple Inc. has changed. Although they expressed that they were willing to negotiate, they have never taken any action before. But now, they are having conversations with us, and we have begun to consult on the case."

Apple has found it's products to be in very high demand and sales will not be effected at all in the country as this case continues.

DJ Platform Dubset Becomes Thefuture.fm, Doubles User Base To 100K by Anthony Ha

Naming your company Thefuture.fm is kind of a bold move. Sure, it's fun at first, but if things go badly, you're setting yourself up for lots of bad puns ("No future for Thefuture.fm," etc.). Luckily, the site seems to be off to a good start.

Founder and CEO David Stein says the service first launched about eight months ago as Dubset, which he now describes as a beta test. After refining and iterating on that initial version, the site relaunched on April 25 under its current, awesomer name. In the first three days after the launch, Thefuture.fm claims to have doubled its user base to more than 100,000.

The goal was to create "a place where people can relive the experience that they got seeing a great DJ in a club," Stein says, by allowing DJs to share their mixes. There are other sites for sharing music mixes, but Thefuture.fm makes the process easy for DJs, thanks to audio fingerprinting technology that it's calling mixSCAN. DJs can just upload their full mix without worrying about track listings, because mixSCAN supposedly identifies all of the songs automatically, including where they start and stop in a mix. That allows Thefuture.fm to handle all of the rights and payments issues. (mixSCAN partners include BMI, SoundExchange, ASCAP, SESAC, NARM, and Sony Gracenote.)

The site is completely free for now, although you're prompted to create an account after you've been listening for a few minutes. Eventually, Stein plans to move to a "freemium" model, where users have to pay for things like mobile access. There are some opportunities for advertising, like matching up advertisers with DJs who can create a brand- or campaign-specific mixes.

And the monetization strategy goes beyond the site itself, because Stein says he's also looking at licensing the mixSCAN platform to others.

All in all, it looks like Thefuture.fm has a bright future.

Wrongfully wielding patents has Motorola and Microsoft Inc in Federal Court

Motorola and Microsoft Inc. will go before and federal judge tomorrow in Seattle to rule if the wrongfully wielded patents of standard technology.

At issue is whether Motorola has violated its contract for licensing technology considered part of an industry standard. We all know that video streaming and wifi has become a moblie must haves on the latest mobile devices. Patent owners are expected to license their technology on reasonable terms once it becomes part of a standard. So the question to ask is what is reasonable.

Motorola's patents for video streaming and Wi-Fi are essential for mobile and entertainment devices and Microsoft adopted them for use in products including its core Windows operating system. Well my thing about this is how were these two companies able to pull this off and even go with business without coming to reasonable terms. We all have mobile devices that has video streaming and Wifi but who is making the real profit here? I guess thas not the issue since the patents are worth more right but what about the customers who paid those set prices by the patents holder if they were wrongfully wielded?

Who Really Want To Be A Millionaire

Everyone wants be to rich and successful in life, but do you know what it takes to actually become rich. Well one thing you can expect is your not going to get rich over night unless you hit the lotto of course. So I took the liberty of actually doing a little research to figure out exactly what most forbes millionaires are doing. This is what I’ve found out.
1. Figure out what you’re so passionate about that you’d be happy doing it for 10 years, even if you never made any money from it. That’s what you should be doing.
2. Always be true to yourself.
3. Figure out what your values are and live by them, in business and in life.
4. Rather than focus on work-life separation, focus on work-life integration.
5. Don’t network. Focus on building real relationships and friendships where the relationship itself is its own reward, instead of trying to get something out of the relationship to benefit your business or yourself.
6. Remember to maximize for happiness, not money or status.
7. Think about what your definition of success really is. Is it externally driven or internally driven?
8. Get ready for rejection.
9. Success unshared is failure. Give back –share your wealth.
10. Successful people do all the things unsuccessful people don’t want to do.
11. Values and ethics always come first.
12. Don’t lie, cheat or steal for one penny or one dollar — ever.
13. Business with bad people is always bad business.
14. You have to learn that you can walk away from someone that you care about for the greater good.
15. When my management teams come into the room, I hug them, I give them truth and “harsh speak” when they’re in, and then I hug them on the way out.
16. The truth is cold and hard, but it’s the first point on the path to hope and salvation.
17. Don’t do what you do for the money. Whatever path you choose, do it because it makes your heart beat fast.
18. If you do good, good will come back to you.
19. You have to be fundamentally engaged and honest toward yourself.
20. Live your life full throttle. Take risks!
These are guidelines to success in life. If you can put yourself in most of the habits above not much can go wrong. Remember also it will take a tremendous effort and saving as much money as possible to become a millionaire.
